The HKUST Fok Ying Tung Research Institute was established in 2006 under the auspices of the Fok Ying Tung Foundation and the Fok Ying Tung Ming Yuan Development Company Ltd. Drawing on HKUSTs strengths, the HKUST Fok Ying Tung Research Institute will develop into a prominent research and education base for the Pearl River Delta (PRD) region, pushing economic growth and technological advancement in the region, expanding outreach to industry, and fostering knowledge exchange between Hong Kong and the Mainland.

ASIC / Application / RFIC/Analog Design / RFIC/Analog Application Engineers职位描述：


The Wireless IC System Design Center (WISE) of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) Fok Ying Tung Graduate School Nansha Campus has been established as a research and development center that focuses on designing wireless IC and system solutions for advanced next generation wireless technologies. These technologies include UWB, 802.11n, RFID, B3G and 802.22 (cognitive radio), and others.

To cope with the growing number of projects, we are looking for a wide spectrum of high calibre candidates, ranging from experienced engineers to fresh graduates, to join our development team. These include R&D Staff /Senior ASIC Engineer, Application Engineer and RFIC/Analog Design/Application Engineer.

Basic Requirements:

(1)Holder of Master Degree in EE or above
(2)Conversant with theory and implementation of wireless communications and international standards, such as UWB, RFID, WLAN, WRAN, Bluetooth.
(3)Be able to work independently on his / her own assignments and to meet deadlines.
(4)Be a strong team player.
(5)Good project leadership skills are expected from experienced engineers.
(6)Experience in working with vendors, customers, and research institutes to define specifications and work plan.
(7)Proficient in English and Putonghua
(8)Good presentation skills for providing training and presenting papers at seminars.

The following positions/vacancies are available:

A. R&D Staff /Senior ASIC Engineer

Responsibilities:
1) Architecting, specifying, designing, and testing digital baseband ICs.

Knowledge and Skill requirements:
1)Possess experience in complete ASIC design flow: specification, Verilog/VHDL coding, chip synthesis, timing analysis, chip verification, Place & Route, FPGA prototyping, and documentation.
2)Knowledge of VLSI architecture.

B.Application Engineer

Responsibilities:
1)Designing, specifying, and implementing prototypes;
2)Developing reference designs based on FPGA, custom ICs, and standard components.

Knowledge and Skill requirements:
1)Possess knowledge in firmware design.
2)Board level design / testing / debugging / layout / characterization of complete wireless systems.
3)Exhibit solid skills with debugging tools and equipments.

C.RFIC/analog IC design, RF/analog application Engineer

Responsibilities:
RFIC/Analog IC design:
1)Architecting, and designing RFIC (e.g. LNA, transceivers), or mixed-signal blocks (such as PLL, A/D, D/A converters) from a system specification or standard.
2)Working with application engineers to design complete RF prototype and reference designs

RF/Analog Application Engineer:
1)Designing RF/analog prototypes boards and reference designs.
2)Testing, tuning, and verification at the system level to meet standard or system requirements;

Knowledge and Skill requirements:
1)Possess proven experience of RFIC design and/or mixed-signal IC design at board level or IC level.
2)Be familiar with RF and analog design flow and tools.
3)Demonstrate ability to translate system specification into an RFIC sub-system or mixed-signal blocks.

Job title and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fresh graduate with strong academic performance will also be considered.
